Going Back to the Green Mountain State

What a weekend! It was a long one and the last of the vacations until baby comes. This time around it was just me and my mom headed to our favorite state (she grew up there, I was born there). I haven't been back in six years so it was long overdue for me, Mom had just been this summer but she is always up for the trip.

[Wednesday]

Our trip started when my mom got to my house to pick me up on Wednesday night. Then there were 18 hours between us and the lovely state of Vermont. Obviously while I wasn't driving/napping I decided to snap.

Mom is a driving fanatic so I really probably drove less than 7 hours round trip.

[Thursday]

After a couple of pit stops, including one at the Vermont border to walk around. By the time we got there we were starving and headed to the White Cottage for a late lunch. We always go to this place and they had to completely rebuild it after the hurricane came through. Food and milkshakes are just as good as always though!

After lunch we headed back to my Opa's and just laid around/talked a bit. I had no ankles after the trip so I put my feet up for a while. Eventually mom and I headed out for a walk around Woodstock and a little shopping, and then we headed to dinner at a little Italian place in town.

[Friday]

After Opa cooked up some breakfast, we headed out for a hike. Mount Tom is a 3.5 mile trail (round trip) and it is one that I am pretty sure we have done every single visit. From the top you have a great view of Woodstock and you also can see where my mom grew up (there is a tree blocking the house, but you get it).

 photo 20150925_120913_zpshkftuw4m.jpg

We headed out for a late lunch again after mom and I grabbed some tight hiking socks to try and help my ankles out a bit. After lunch we hung out at the house again before freshening up for dinner.

Dinner was pizza from Cantore's Pizza in West Lebanon. Mom grew up with the Cantore's and going to Vinnie's pizza has become a regular part of our family's Vermont visits as of late. After dinner we drove over to Hanover for gelato. I paired dark chocolate with forest berries and it is the absolute perfect combo. I am drooling a bit just thinking of it.

[Saturday]

Opa made us some yummy dinner again on Saturday morning and then we headed to Bethany Birches for the 50th Anniversary auction and lunch. Mom started going to Bethany Birches Camps when she was 5 I think, and now my cousins still go there either as campers or counselors/interns. It is a really cool camp and I love visiting. I never went for more than just a day camp but I would love to send my children off for a week there in the future just to keep them grounded in the real world.

After lunch we began our trip home. This time stopping in Buffalo for the night to break up the trip a bit.

[Sunday]

Once we made it home I was useless for the rest of the day. I took a nap and cuddled with the dog while Nate watched football. Then Nate and I watched a movie and headed to bed early.

[This Week]

Let's see I have doctor's appointments, and am actually going to be home all weekend. Weird right? Saturday will either be a labor and delivery class (if we can still get into it) or football or Fall Festival. Then Sunday we are having people over to cheer on the Colts and celebrate Nate's birthday with chili, apple crisp and friends.

And last but not least, don't forget about this giveaway!

I mean who doesn't like a good giveaway or a pretty eyeshadow palette? Ten lucky winners will receive a Measurable Difference® Desert Nights Eyeshadow palette. The colors are gorgeous and will work together to make a pretty amazing smokey eye this fall.

Bumpdate | 28 Weeks

 photo 28weeks_zps0ozvddzo.jpg

[How far along]

28 weeks, only 84 days left! Holy cow this is unreal.

[Size of the baby]

Little mister keeps on growing. He is about the size of an Eggplant! Apparently there is a chance he is going to be a big boy. At my doctor's appointment they told me my stomach was measuring bigger than average (from pelvic bone to top of bump). I was slightly shocked, but not worrying yet. If I keep measuring big then they might do an extra ultrasound to measure him early.

[Weight Gain]

About twenty-ish pounds. Sometimes more sometimes less.

[Symptoms]

I am definitely having trouble sleeping, not just because of bathroom breaks but because I just cannot stay asleep. He is also for sure causing my lungs to get crushed a bit. Taking a deep breath is challenging and satisfying now. For the most part though I am still going strong and no real complaints. Thank you Lord for taking care of me so far, and I pray it continues.

[Gender]

We are having a little boy! The reveal story is here

[Maternity Clothes]

Oh yes, normal things are a struggle now. Really though I love maternity pants, they are so much more comfortable. Plus eating with an elastic waistband is the best. I went and got some maternity tops too. The small maternity wardrobe is filling out.

[Craving]

Cookies are still a pretty big thing for me. I haven't really been craving, craving anything else. Occasionally something fruity but not strong.

[Feeling]

After this last appointment the idea that he could come into this world earlier than expected is causing a bit of anxiety/fear. Not anything crazy but the idea that he could be here really in less than 12 weeks is not something you seriously think about until the doctor puts it in your head.

[Random]

I am done with shots! At my appointment yesterday I got my flu shot and my whooping cough shot. Arms are sore but worth it. We are done now until after he is born. If he ends up being rh+ then I will get another Rhogam shot, if he is negative like me then its all good!

Fall Heaven

[Friday]

Well let's see, there was pizza on Friday and there was football. Pretty typical stuff if you ask me. Nate and I also spent the evening prepping food for the next day. I was making cookies (just the dough, baking in the am) and he made pickle roll-ups which have now been given the name redneck sushi. Super eventful night obviously.

[Saturday]

 photo IMG_20150919_090158_zpscr5cuzj9.jpg

I mean when you start your day looking at lovely cookie dough and baking before noon it is obviously going to be a great day. I was on cookie duty and Nate ended up taking over watching the last pan while I got ready. Then we braved the gloomy weather and headed to the lake for our friend's birthday.

 photo Snapchat-3644605903572247226_zpskfdgujoo.jpg

We stayed there until about dinner and then headed back, grabbed the dog and took him to his first football game. He got better as the game went on, but it was not very easy at first. He just wants to be around everyone and he is a bit too strong for me to handle sometimes so Nate ends up with him. Everything gets better with time though so maybe one day he will be a calm in public type of dog.

Honestly, by the time we left the game we were exhausted and went straight to bed. Pretty sure we were both out before 10 p.m. We are doing everything we can to soak up this sleep while we can get it.

[Sunday]

Sunday I got bit by the cleaning bug. Really though, there was no stopping me. Our first floor is completely clean (except for mopping the floor) and the upstaits is all tidy and orgnazied waiting to be deep cleaned. Nate didn't have much of a choice and got sucked into it with me. By the afternoon our house was clean and all the windows were open letting the breeze flow through. That evening we lit a pumpkin roll candle and turned on the Scenties and our house felt/smelled like fall heaven. I loved it.

[This Week]

This week I head to Vermont with my momma and I am super excited. I think it has been close to six years since I have made a Vermont trip so this one is long overdue.

And last but not least, let's start the week with a giveaway!

I mean who doesn't like a good giveaway or a pretty eyeshadow pallette? Ten lucky winners will recieve a Measurable Difference® Desert Nights Eyeshadow pallette. The colors are gorgeous and will work together to make a pretty amazing smokey eye this fall.

Bumpdate | 27 Weeks

 photo 27weeks_zps3tlb0c95.jpg

[How far along]

27 weeks! Hooray 3rd trimester!

[Size of the baby]

Cauliflower/Rutabaga
About 14.4 inches, 2 pounds

[Weight Gain]

I am seeing numbers I have never seen before on a scale, and it doesn't bother me one bit! This trimester you are expected to gain about 10 to 12 pounds, so if I do I am looking at 153 by the end of it. This week though I have been fluctuating between a 18 and 20 pound weight-gain so far.

[Symptoms]

Um, I am pretty sure I had a couple of Braxton Hicks contractions and I am thirsty 99% of the time. Because I am trying to push so much water through my system I am increasing my bathroom breaks a lot too. My back pain has eased up (knock on wood it stays like that). I have been feeling a bit nausous lately if I move too fast, and got a little sick one afternoon. Paybacks for an easy first trimester right? Going back to being thirsty, I am noticing leg cramps a lot more. On the bright side, my skin is starting to look a bit more clear (again, knocking on wood here).

All of these things are so worth it though and this little guy keeps reminding me about that. Every time I feel him twist or kick I get so happy. I cannot wait until he joins us in 13 weeks (or less, or more)!

[Sleep]

I'm tired of talking about this one. My stomach is large, it is hard to get comfortable. You get it.

[Gender]

We are having a little boy! The reveal story is here

[Maternity Clothes]

Went and bought jeans this week. Honestly it was the most positive jeans buying experience I have ever had. Who would have thought. Thank you Motherhood Maternity for making me feel good in jeans while pregnant!

[Craving]

Um cookies. I have held strong though and not made any. So far this week I have contemplated making banana bread, cookies, and brownies. Instead I have eaten fruit and peanut butter.

[Feeling]

At peace. We have a lot of stuff coming up, but I feel good about it all. We are getting closer to having this little guy come into the world and Nate and I are so beyond excited.

[Random]

Nate and I have started talking holiday plans since we will not be able to go anywhere for Thanksgiving and potentially Christmas. It is a lot of planning. Mom and I are alsostarting to plan out newborn picture ideas and maternity picture plans, so that is fun. So much planning!

Feeding Children with cuddle+kind

I am so thankful that there are good people in this world. There are all sorts of brands out there that do a buy one give one type of program with their goods, but this one really tugs at my heart.

This post is brought to you by cuddle+kind, but I wrote it with 100% my own thoughts and opinions.

Don't want to read the cuddle+kind story? Watch it instead by clicking play on the video below!

cuddle+kind is a company comprised of five family members (Jen, Derek, Brook, Ethan & Rachel) who are on a mission to help feed children in need. Chop, Chop

daily-motivation-9
[theberry]

Oh happy days, it is Monday! Another weekend flys by. This weekend we spent our time up in Fort Wayne with family and friends and it was so nice.

[Friday]

We originally were planning on heading up Saturday, but a change of plans in Saturday's list of things to do let us leave early. After work we packed up and headed out in what was probably record time. Unfortunately because we left a smidge earlier than usual we hit more traffic than normal, pretty sure all the stop and go made Remi a little stressed. We all survived and headed out for dinner with the family when we finally got there. After dinner we swung by a friend's house to just catch up for a bit, until I just couldn't stay awake any longer (neither could some others). Stuffed bellies led to a pretty good night's sleep for me, Nate was struggling with a cold or something so maybe not so soundly for him.

[Saturday]

Nate and I are soaking up all the sleeping in we can get, even when sleeping in means 8:30. The rest of the morning was nice and slow until we headed off to Pin Up Curls for a family haircut day. Seanie made our hair look great as usual and I chopped off a bit more than origianally planned. It was one of those days were I started with 2 inches and ended up getting rid of about 4 maybe?

 photo Snapchat-7470581850162476660_zpsydg2glci.jpg
Let's ignore the snapchat face shall we?
No matter how much it actually was, it is a lot of damage gone and a step toward healthier locks again. And I love it

Nate and I headed to the mall after the salon and got some lunch (Panda wins every time) and then headed to Motherhood to look at jeans. I honestly had no intention of actually buying a pair that day, partially because I expected buying maternity jeans to be just as, if not more, traumatic as my normal jeans buying experiences. It was the complete opposite though, and we walked out with black and dark wash skinny denim to get me through the winter. Who would have thought I would ever buy the first pair of jeans I tried on? Not me that is for sure.

After the shortest shopping trip ever, we headed back and got Remi before heading to a friend's house for the rest of the evening. We watched football (specifically ND), ate chilli and made a Kroger run for pregnant snacks (my friend we visited is also pregnant). It was a nice relaxing night.

[Sunday]

Nate was still under the weather Sunday morning so we took it slow again. I had a baby shower to head off to around 1 and he headed to a soccer game with Remi. Afterward we again hung out with friends for a bit and watched football, and then headed back to his parents to see them before we left.

Traffic going home was ten times better, but we still didn't get home until 8:30 and ended up just crawling in bed. I was not mad about it at all, we are really soaking up as much sleep as possible right now.

This week we don't have too much planned, but the weekend will probably be spent on a lake with friends for at least a day. I am sure there will be more football at some point and I am also going to be doing some major design work for friends and this little blog of mine. Also on the list, start packing/planning for the Vermont trip with my mom next week!

Here goes another week in the life of an adult.

Bumpdate | 26 Weeks

 photo 26weeks_zpsospbsl5y.jpg

[How far along]

26 weeks. Goodness he will be here in no more than 15 weeks! We officially hit double digits in the countdown - 98 days to go.

[Size of the baby]

He is the size of an eggplant, what!? It is so crazy to think that there is a 14 inch, 2 pound little man hanging out in there. Well it is kind of believable once he starts dancing around, trust me.

[Weight Gain]

Still hoovering around 16 pounds.

[Symptoms]

I am noticing a lot more cramping in my legs so I am trying to up my water intake even more. Sleep is still an issue and if I roll over too fast I get a bit nauseous. I am still not noticing swelling or Braxton Hicks (that I know of). Pregnancy brain is real and I am really starting to notice the pressure on my ribcage.

[Sleep]

Left side is the winning side. Seriously, I try sleeping on my right almost every night to give my left shoulder a break and I just never can fall asleep that way. Eventually I end up switching for a short period of time, but I definitely spend the majority of time on my left.

[Gender]

We are having a little boy! The reveal story is here

[Maternity Clothes]

Yea, I have them. Now I am starting to look for a few dresses to get me through a couple of work meetings, outfits for showers, and dresses for a couple of photoshoots. During the week though, spandex and sports bras still reign king. I'm sure I look ridiculous but material touching my stomach still drives me crazy.

[Craving]

Um, I must admit ice cream (specifically Vanilla Bean Ice Cream) and pizza. Not together but at any point in the day.

[Feeling]

The feeling I am feeling most is anxious. Not to the point where I can't function but I have been making a lot of crazy lists to keep myself from freaking out. For the next two months we have something pretty much every weekend so that will keep us busy and then we will hit those last 5-6 weeks and everything should settle down just in time for his arrival.

[Random]

All the fabric is bought for the bedskirt and teething rail and I am so excited about it. My Nana is making it for us and I can't wait to get it all in the room.

Also this week, and I am just keeping it real here, I coughed and peed my pants. The pregnant life is a glamorous one. Yup, I just told the world that I peed my pants this past week. Honesty people.

A Laborless Weekend

Among the rest of this weekend's activities, Nate and I hit a milestone that Facebook kindly reminded us of - we became Facebook friends 6 years ago.

Friday

Since it was a holiday weekend and the office closed early I finally took the time to get ready and go get my license updated. Of course my mom pointed out that since I just needed to updated my address I probably could have just done it online and not gone in. However, I needed a new picture anyway since I had not learned to fill in my eyebrows the last time I had one. Honestly, this is probably my best on yet. Since it matter so much right ha!

 photo Snapchat--3861946185476404695_zpslcex73tn.jpg

Anyway, after that I headed to my friend's house to plan out our tailgate food for the next day. The winner out of the three things I made was this amazing corn dip that was super, super easy. I will do a full post about it later but if you can't wait until then you can find it on my Pinterest page here. After a grocery trip I made dip, slushy fruit and some popcorn trail mix and then we headed to bed.

Saturday

Like I said, Friday night was spent planning and cooking to prep for the first football tailgate of the year. One of the nice things about being back in Franklin is getting to go to football games and join the rest of the Alumni in celebrating our little school. The boys headed out and claimed our spot at about 10:30 am I think and I made it there by noon with my half of the food and the rest showed up a smidge later. We enjoyed it while we could, but eventually the heat got to me and a storm delayed the football game (second half didn't start until 5:30 I believe). Once everything got delayed we called it and Nate and I headed to Buy Buy Baby to register.

 photo Snapchat-4766596588070520371_zpslyecez4b.jpg

We got all our stuff set up at Buy Buy Baby and did the whole in-store registry thing, then we came back and just relaxed.

Our friends joined us when we got home and we all watched some more college football and snacked on the afternoon's leftovers while our dogs played.

Sunday

The original Sunday plan was to do our baby registry at Target, but instead of going there I just did it all online and merged both my Target and Buy Buy Baby registries to our Baby List one. Honestly it took me a while to feel like I had everything covered. By the time I did, I was spent for the day and the only other stuff I got done was a bit of organizing/cleaning before laying down on the ground with the pup and watching bad TV. Nate wasn't feeling like staying in and headed to a cookout with some friends before going out with them in Indy.

Monday

The grandparents headed up early on Monday so that my Nanna and I could go pick out fabric before they went to a cookout nearby. My Grandpa also brought the cleaned up stumped that we are using for a side table in the nursery. I can't wait until we get it stained and sealed!

I had every intention of getting some deep cleaning done on Monday, but we found some good movies on demand and got sucked into that instead. Oh well, another day down, I will clean eventually.

And just like that the weekend was over, now we move on to another short work week! Here we go.

Bumpdate | 25 Weeks

 photo 25weeks_zpsuymszhxp.jpg

[How far along]

25 weeks. The countdown board is going - only 105 days left! So close to double digits, I can't believe it.

[Size of the baby]

He is the size of a Cauliflower, so he is about 13.4 inches and 1.5 pounds (according to my apps).

[Weight Gain]

16 pounds now. At my doctor's appointment he told me I gained about 6 since my last appointment...well I expected this eventually. I still feel really good about how I feel and the only thing that I even think about when it comes to my body is my bellybutton (yup, I am weird).

[Symptoms]

Leg/foot cramps occasionally. Back pain all the time (specifically SI joint pain), but I have been doing some exercises and stretches to help out thanks to Nate. The LineaNigra is going strong too, and my belly is still more hairy than it used to be. Sleeping isn't fun and let's just say my digestive system doesn't quite know what to do right now (TMI? not here, we are real in this place). No heartburn, swelling hands/feet or stretch marks still though so I will take that as long as I can.

[Sleep]

Like I said, it isn't fun. Mostly because I just can't fall asleep, get comfortable. I also get distracted when he starts kicking and I just want to soak that in.

[Gender]

We are having a little boy! The reveal story is here

[Maternity Clothes]

Yea, I got some now. A tank that I am in love with, some shorts and leggings too. I also found some non-maternity stuff that works really well anyway.

[Craving]

Um lately Oreo's and milk, which is super weird. It is weird because right before I got pregnant I ate so many Oreo's that I got sick. The other weird bit, I actually have been drinking the milk. I never drink plain milk, never have liked the taste and today it was the best thing I had all day.

[Feeling]

Excited. We have 15 weeks left, and it is getting so real. Showers are being planned, we are registering this week and the little details of the nursery are coming together. I cannot wait for this little bear to get here.

[Random]

 photo Snapchat--2904290284527445387_zpsexqkpiqg.jpg

I had my 25 (usually 24) week appointment and did my glucose test. At first they handed me an orange flavored one and I almost cried. Orange juice is the only thing that makes me nauseous, so I kindly asked if I could have a different flavor for that reason and they nicely handed me a lemon-lime one. It tasted like a flat, super sugary sprite. Worked perfectly. We will find out next week if I passed or not. I also had to get my Rhogam shot (my blood is A- and Nate is something + this means shots are needed). It wasn't too bad, but I have had enough needles for one day. Hitting 25 weeks also means that my doctor appointments are going to start coming more quickly, which will also make time go faster. No more than 10 more appointments until baby!

I love this onesie so much that I have actually taken multiple screenshots of it over the course of the last few weeks. Anyway, I love it. Enough said, great job Jean and June.

That is all from me this time. Hope you are all having lovely weeks! It is Friday tomorrow so be happy.

California

Well we were gone for almost a week! It was such a relaxing (much needed) vacation. Nate and I aren't really go, go, go type of people, so there isn't too much to chat about. There are pictures though, at least one a day. I count this as a win.

Wednesday

Travel day! We started our trek super early, like woke up at 3:30 am type of early. And of course I procrastinated slightly and didn't go to bed until pretty late, then I couldn't fall asleep so...ya know. Anyway, we made it to the airport around 5 for our 6:45 flight (hooray for easy airports) and survived our long flight to Las Vegas. Honestly we were very poorly prepared for the 4 hour flight, but Southwest has free streaming TV and we found something to watch and pass the time.

 photo 20150826_094957_zps7ljvsxvh.jpg  photo 20150826_101324_zpsa7pnnsu9.jpg  photo 20150826_101731_zpsrxcwcvdz.jpg

In Vegas, Nate lost a dollar to blackjack and I lost 20 minutes of life to the Starbucks line. After some pizza, we settled in to wait for the flight into Orange County. That flight was uneventful and we landed and hopped in Nate's sister's car to drive to San Diego.

 photo 20150826_102336_zps9l81xdyi.jpg  photo Snapchat--3324893064015669500_zpsahxuyqw2.jpg

Wasting little time, we headed to the water for a bit of relaxation. We were staying with Nate's sister and brother-in-law who live right on the bay so it was the perfect walk to a sunny beach. We ended the night with BBQ, which was delish, and Nate and I stayed up as late as our bodies would let us to try and get acclamated to the time change. Day 1, complete.

 photo IMG_20150827_065358_zpsbqqovhzm.jpg

Thursday

Like I said, Nate and I are pretty chill when it comes to vacations so Day 2 started with a little walking around in San Diego. We visited some little shops, saw some boats and ate some cookies. After lunch and a little just sitting around, Nate and I headed to the beach and then ordered a pizza. Later we watched a movie and crashed for the night. It was a pretty low-key day, and I was not mad about it.

 photo 20150827_161734_zpskalecend.jpg  photo 20150827_161749_zpsx7cn1bsa.jpg

Friday

Day 3 was spent by the water, who would have guessed. Actually the morning was spent inside playing with the baby and just sitting around until the boys went golfing. Then the girls were off to the beach. Time flew by as my SIL and I talked and the baby slept, and eventually we both realized we were getting a bit red and headed back. It was just enough time to get my skin nice and red, perfect for the nice date night Nate and I had planned...great.

 photo Snapchat--4018576826153433449_zpsqin5l453.jpg  photo Snapchat--8709477802746861526_zpsug1dzppd.jpg

I got ready for the evening and for once was ready early, like 40 minutes early. Nate on the otherhand barely made it (he blames traffic on the way home from the course). We hopped in the car and headed to our dinner cruise for the evening. Loved it. Dinner was great, and the views and weather were perfect. It was a really nice date night.

On my face:

Saturday

Day 4 we headed north to Newport Beach with Nate's cousin. On the way, we stopped to see the seals at La Jolla and then stoped in Laguna for lunch.

Once we made it to Newport Beach, we relaxed for a bit and then headed out for an acai bowl to hold us over until dinner. It was so yummy! I want to start making them at home, but need to find a good place to get the acai. Any suggestions?

We ended the night with pizza and it was so yummy! Alfredo sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, peperroni, seriously you can't go wrong.

Sunday

Obviously me being pregnant limits some of the activities we could do, but on Day 5 we headed to Venice Beach for some walking around and touristy things. First stop was In-and-Out. My honest opinion? It was good, but it reminded me of a slightly thicker Steak and Shake burger with more sauce and veggies. Go ahead and tell me I am wrong, it was just my original feeling. I would eat it again though, let's be honest.

We made it to Venice Beach and walked quite a bit. Stopping and watching people at muscle beach, the skate park and evenually the freak show, until I got super hot and pulled the pregnancy card. We were out there long enough though that all of us ended up a bit rosy, some more than others.

On the way back we stopped for frozen yogurt and then just sat around a bit before grabbing dinner. That night, dinner was a little Mexican food place suggested by our Uber driver that morning. It ended up being a pretty good recommendation. Their salsa selection was on point! We ended the night with Straight Outta Compton and then crashed hard. It was a nice sleep.

Monday

Our flight home was late enough in the afternoon that we really couldn't do much, plus other people went to work anyway. Nate and I slept in and then took our time getting ready and packing up. Then we took a nice little Uber ride to the airport, grabbed some food and headed back to Vegas. I was hungry by the time we got there so I grabbed food and Nate tried to find another blackjack machine (he failed) before getting food for himself.

Learning from our mistake on the way out, we made sure our computer was charged as well as our phones. The flight back was then filled with Treehouse Masters and sudoku, yup we are a really excited couple of people. Other than some loud toddlers, and some oversharing from other individuals it was a pretty good flight and we made it back to Indy on time.

It was almost 1:30 am before we got back, but lordy was Remi happy to see us! I gotta say, I was pretty excited to see him too, but also to sleep in my bed again. We fell asleep hard and fast and went back to our normal lives the next morning.

All in all it was a great vacation and I finally look like a healthy skinned individual again. So much for not many words huh?
