Discover | BULLETSnLACE

Happy weekend everyone! I am back with another Discover post. I love the idea of sharing local/fun finds in the small business world. Recently I heard about Mandy and her shop, BULLETSnLACE. I was blown away by her stuff and immediately bought a pair of earrings from her. Obviously I needed to tell you all about her because her jewelry is so unique and I just love it. Enough from me though, lets get to her.

Introduce yourself!
My name is Mandy Leeuw Bohde. I was born and raised in Ft.Wayne IN, and work here as a full time hairstylist. I have had my Etsy shop just over a year and run BULLETSnLACE in my off time from the salon.

What drew you to jewelry design and how long have you been doing it?
My mom is actually an amazing artist and teaches advanced art, photography, and jewelry. So it's something I always grew up around and took interest in. BULLETSnLACE came about  from my husband and I going to the range on the weekend. After awhile I just started looking at all the casings that people didn't pick up and thought " I could make this into jewelry."

Why Bullets n Lace? Any story behind the name?
I love a little play on words....two things that you wouldn't necessarily put together. A lot of the woman that are drawn to my jewelry are women that love the outdoors, sports, four wheeling, even hunting. But they are women that can also wear heels, and be sophisticated, and feminine. I think my jewelry captures both sides of that. The pieces are so simple, but stunning.

What do you hope comes to your store for the future? Where do you see it going?
I'd love to open some kind of studio/boutique with my mom. I have so many ideas that I feel like the possibilities are endless. I really want people to recognize the name BULLETSnLACE, and to be one of the top sellers on Etsy. It will take time, but I don't think it's completely out of reach. I have a lot of new ideas that I'm hoping to come out with by this spring/summer.

If you aren't making jewelry what are you doing?
I love taking pictures! Photography has always been a rewarding hobby for me. Besides that, anything outdoors. My husband and I love to canoe, ride our bikes, take our 3 dogs out in the woods, and just make great memories with family and friends.

Show her some love! Here is where you can find BULLETSnLACE.

Hope you enjoyed this discover post and learning about a new amazing line of jewelry!

I think all too often a key person gets thrown to the wayside in the blog world - the husband/boyfriend/bestfriend/whoever that really helps out and deals with all the selfies and posed photos that come with this life. Today I am jumping on the bandwagon with the other bloggers and shine a spotlight on my husband, the man who is my biggest supporter in this world.

Introduce yourself!
That's a question?! I am a male, 25 year old....
My name is Nate Blair, I am an Athletic Trainer, Kati's husband and Dad to our fur-child - Remington.

What do you think about the blog?
Um, I enjoy that you have found something that you are passionate about. Most of it isn't relevant to me, but I still enjoy reading them and it is a great place to find gift ideas.

What is your favorite post I have written
I like the recent house posts. because I enjoy projects and the pictures make me think of projects that could be done in our house.
I enjoy your weekend wrap up type posts, just because I like to look back at fun times with friends.

Would you ever write a post (other than this one) for me?
I could possibly write a fitness post, but I think I would be more apt to write a response to a question someone asks about fitness or health than coming up with something.

If you could be anywhere other than the middle of this winter nonsense in Indiana right now, where would you go?
Australia, it is my dream vacation. Everyone that I have heard that has gone to it, doesn't want to come back because of the relaxed lifestyle that is included.

My Hair Through the Years

My hair has been through a lot in the past almost 24 years. Multiple colors, different variations of perms, all kinds of heating tools. You name it and I have very well tried it. From black hair to blonde, with red and purple in between. This is all because my Grandma is the best in the world and did whatever we asked her to, no matter how crazy. Growing up with a salon in your grandparent's house leads you to a life of trendy hair let me tell ya.

So I thought today I would take you down memory lane since I have an impending hair appointment where I am desperately craving a change (big or small).

We can start with the most current...the past two years

Currently I am an ashy blonde with ash brown low lights and my base is a lighter brown. This is probably the most light all over I have ever been and my hair is pretty long.

End of the summer, my hair was getting more light, but not as light as it is now. It was long by then. I had also decided I would stop using a tanning bed around this point so I knew I wanted lighter hair to make up for it.

Also during summer, roots/base still dark (my natural color). Rocking the ombre look.

Office Inspiration

 photo office inspiration_zpsgzl8ni8v.jpg
[source]
As we get closer to buying a house and needing to set up a home office space, I can't help but get drawn in to all the pretty things out there. I feel like it is never too early to start making inspiration boards so, that being said I am starting with my new office and have made a collection on Keep to compile all the items that I love. I have tried to keep them all within my pricerange, and if they are crazy expensive (like the fur covered bench and the bar cart) then I want to try and DIY them.

When I think about my office I think of a clean, crisp space with small pops of color to give it life. Accents being either gold or brass and adding in shades of pink or green (maybe both with rose and mint). I love the look of a white desk with a Lucite chair and a small touch of fur somewhere. As far as a desk goes, I can't decide whether or not I want a standing desk. If I do then there is this really cool Lucite stool I found that I could use too!

This is How I Day Two

 photo Day 2 hair_zpshpnucsyc.jpg

What is going on everyone! It is Tuesday and I am sharing with you my second day hair routine and a quick style to do as well.

Sidenote: Did anyone else read that title like "This is How We Do" by Katy Perry?

Before I really get into this tutorial, I want to tell you why I decided to do this one before a first day hair routine/style. Second/third/fourth day hair tutorials are everywhere it seems lately, but something missing from those that always bugs me is the product and routine used to make their hair last. I am a product girl. I love trying new things that work for other people and seeing if they work for me. That being said, I figured I would do what I wished other people did and show you how I get extra time out of my hair before resorting to a top knot.

 photo Day2HairSandBStep_zpsa7xatuhw.jpg

Starting point, I sleep with my hair in a bun on the very top of my head with an alligator clip so it doesn't pull my hair, but keeps it all off my neck. This also keeps it from getting super tangled. Day two hair usually is slightly greasy and lifeless, some days are worse than others.

 photo Day2HairTips3_zpsfr5tfajg.jpg
I begin bringing life back into my locks by brushing my hair out and then spraying in a healthy amount of eufora's dry shampoo (c/o) to soak up the oil. I let the product sit in my hair for about 5 minutes and then massage it into my head. Then I take my hairdryer and a round brush and redirect my hair so it lays normally again, as well as adding some volume back. It also helps to get rid of the leftover oils sitting near your roots.

Winter Wins

someecards
That is exactly how I feel right now. This winter is killing me. Not only because of how cold and long it is, but also because it ruined my house search this weekend. The two and a half hour drive ended up being for three houses. Darn snow.

Oh, well. I will head back this weekend and try again. Hopefully I find something and someone also decides to buy our house. That would be great. All positive vibes, thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.

So, Friday and Saturday were spent driving and house hunting. Then Saturday evening I shoveled for the first time in like two years. Not because I refused to shovel before, but because my husband never let me shovel. He always took care of it so I wouldn't have to. This time though he wasn't there, and I was not about to let it just sit on the driveway.

I looked like a camo wearing Brat doll. Huge boots (they were Nate's) and jacket (also Nate's) with leggings, a pretty nice pony and giant sunglasses. I was so warm though! Thank goodness for his stuff.

I grabbed these two workouts off the Tone It Up website this week and holy cow was I sore! They were simple to do and I really felt the burn. Love it!

Seeing our house listed on Realtor.com

It is an odd feeling let me tell ya. We have kept our house spotless though which is also crazy to think about.

Home Dreaming

Does your dream home look anything like this? Love the lighting, greenery and brick walkway!
[source]
By now, if you read my blog or follow me on social media, you should have caught on that we are in the process of buying and selling. We are beyond excited for this next step in our lives and are trying to stay un-stressed about the house situation.

Luckily, buying a new house means I can dream about all the things I want to see in it. Unfortunately, my big ideas cost a lot so we will be doing a lot of DIY (which is fine to me).

Here is our simplified wishlist that we gave our Realtor:
3+ Bedrooms
2.5+ Bathrooms
Large, fenced-in yard
2 car garage
1500+ Square feet
"Office" room

Like I said I have big dreams for our future house. Below are pictures that I am drawn too and the look I really want to go for with the new place. Obviously that will be contingent on the house we buy, but it is my initial dream. All of these images can be found on my Pinterest boards!

Pampering my skin

 photo NighttimePamper_zpsrrqlnaw3.jpg
It is no secret that I am a fan of face masks or that I am a big supporter of really taking care of your skin. It is also not a secret that my skin has been giving me fits lately. That being said I wanted to show my bare skin and share my current skin routine for when I really want to pamper my skin. I try and do a mask at least once a week and follow that up with a treatment serum and serious hydration. Let's get on with it shall we?

Disclaimer. Some items were received c/o BrandBacker, InstaNatural and Valentia. While I was given these products for testing purposes, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links.

To start off my routine, I remove my makeup with a cleansing oil. I know these typically say for dry skin and not for oily, but I have found that the more moisturized my face is, the better it is lately. I also have not had an issue with this product breaking me out and it really does a great job of getting all the makeup off.

 photo NighttimePamperStep2_zps4s8qioq5.jpg

Once I get the oil/makeup off my face, I move on to really cleaning and exfoliating with my new Clarisonic Mia 2 (thanks for the early birthday present Mom and Dad.) I have been using this consistantly for about a week now, and although that isn't enough time to give a real review I have noticed a difference in my skin. That is always a plus.
