Jewelry Wishing

I am a lover of all things sparkley, so naturally I am a jewelry lover. Rhinestones and gold are my kryptonite. So, like everything else I keep a running wish list on keep.com of the jewelry items I wish I could buy.

Check out my full collection of pretty things on keep.com by clicking below!

Winter Nails

It is time to face the facts, winter is coming (or is here already). I am more of an embrace what is going on and roll with it kind of girl, than a ignore the issue one. That being said, I decided it was time to start with the winter inspired nails.

 photo WinterNails1_241114_0001_zps17f35160.jpg

Notice I said winter, not holiday. As I have has many times now, Christmas comes after Thanksgiving so just give me a few more days of strictly winter fun and then I will jump on the Christmas parade. For my nails I decided to do an icy (almost robin's egg) blue for the base. I then used a really fine, silver shimmer shade and to add some depth to my nails by fading it halfway up the nail. When it came to my accent nail, I knew I wanted a snowflake. I also knew that attempting to do one on my right hand would be futile so I stuck to just my left ring finger. Personally I think it turned out great, and that is what matters honestly.

Master Inspiration

Every now and then I get the urge to redecorate, however my budget does not allow me to do so on a whim. As I fantasize about redecorating, I sometimes stumble upon fun little shops that have things I would just love to use in my own home. Chairish.com is one of those fun little shops, that actually happens to be quite big and exclusively online.

Chairish is a store that allows you to buy and sell vintage furniture, decor, fashion accessories and jewelry and Chairish handles the logistics of payment and shipping. Check them out here.

Currently our master bedroom is navy and gold, and has a Moroccan-like print on our main wall. I love it, but if/when we move we will want something new. So typical me I am already thinking about it, and this time I am drawing my inspiration from some vintage Chanel and Hermes (found on Chairish).

This is all wishful thinking since I could probably not afford half of this ever, but ,hey, a girl can dream right? These items are all so pretty and I would love to be able to have any of them. That being said, it is inspiration and I love all of it!

How would you redecorate if you could?

I was not compensated by Chairish in any way for this post. All opinions and picks are entirely my own.

After the Party is the Clean-Up Party

What a weekend! Friday night was my first Komets game in about a month and it was a fun one. Huntington University sponsored the second annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are asked to bring new/gently used stuffed animals to the game to toss onto the ice when the Komets score their first goal. All the stuffed animals that are collected benefit the Disorderly Bear Den of Good Bears of the World. It was so much fun!

Komettes with the stuffed animals collected during that night's game.
Saturday was our Friendsgiving day and Nate and I started bright and early getting everything ready. I will do a full recap with recipes later this week, but it was a successful night for sure.

Nate and I made our outfits, I was pretty impressed with his crafting skills for sure! My outfit took a bit longer, but I was really proud of it. My eye makeup turned out pretty good too, and I had a pretty good hair day to top it off.

Sunday hit hard, hitting some harder than others. After cleaning and grocery shopping for most of the morning, I spent the rest of the day cuddling with my puppy (even he was tired from the party). Nate joined me to watch the AMAs later that night. I came away from the show with a couple of conclusions:

1. Five Seconds of Summer is such a fun group and I loved their performance
2. I am completely obsessed with Christina Milian and Lil Wayne
3. Jennifer Lopez still looks amazing and rocked the stage
4. Selena Gomez had an amazingly emotional performance and looked gorgeous on the Red Carpet

That's all folks! What were your AMA conclusions? Did you do anything fun over the weekend?

The Bert Show

I am seriously laughing out loud each morning as I drive to work. They are such a good combination.

Hair Food

Hair Food c/o Influenster

I was sent a bottle of the new Hair Food hair mask in my latest VoxBox from Influenster to try out, and I seriously can't stop using it. It is only available at Target and it smells amazeballs (yup, I said that). I have also noticed a difference in my hair since I started using it, my ends haven't been near as tangled.

Scandal Winter Finale

This is probably one of the only times I was happy with the ending. It seemed like thing were wrapping up nicely and then wham! They surprise you and say now you must wait until January. Good job Scandal, good job.

LUSH Charity Pot

Not only does this really help my dry skin, but it also contributes to a good cause. I got the Charity Pot that supports a local-ish animal sanctuary so that makes me feel like a good person. But really, I have been using this every night this week before crawling into bed and sometimes in the morning.

These pictures

I will post more later most likely, but this is it for now. I can't stop looking at them, they just came out so perfect. Dustin did an amazing job! You can check out his work here.

That is all for me! It has been a quick week and I am so ready for the weekend. Have a great one everyone!

All I want for Christmas is...

...everything. Just kidding. I really don't want much but I usually go overboard on my Christmas list As an adult with you know a house and responsibilities of my own, I feel silly making a Christmas list, but people still ask for one so I make it and fill it with plenty of options. Usually a few far fetched ideas get added, like a pair of  Louboutin's or a Micheal Kors/Kate Spade watch. I mean I know I am probably not going to get those, I am not crazy.

My real list is shorter though (the things I really need/want):
Skinny Jeans (black and dark/destroyed)
Running Shoes
Rain boots
Pajamas
Perfume
Eyeshadow
Workout gear
Jewelry

However, if you want to see my complete list of wishes check out my running collection on keep.com (click below). It is full of pretty things.

Also, don't forget to enter the giveaway for the 3 piece candle set here. You have less than two days to enter.

And if you want to check out some more fun things, hop over to When Is Nap Time and check out my guest post!

That is all for me today! What is on your wishlist? Do you add far fetched wishes like me, or am I the only one?

Crafting for Christmas

As we get closer to December, my Christmas spirit starts to bubble up and I start thinking of all the fun things I want to do. Last year was our first Christmas in our home, so the decorations and crafts were kept under control. We decorated a tree, hung some swag and decorated our mantle. The only real craft I had was making pine cone ornaments for the tree.

This year I plan on doing about three crafts, and having Nate do some decorating too (honey-do list).

I am for sure making an advent wreath, countdown chalkboard, and some sort of decoration for our front door. We are also hanging lights outside (thanks hubs) and I am also going to be dropping a hint that I want Nate to make a blanket ladder to go beside the TV (hint dropped).

Some other ideas I am tossing around, more mantel decor, tree skirt, and something to hang from our outside lights.

You can see my whole board of ideas for the holidays on Pinterest, just click below.

I'm not ready for this

Um, hello winter. It is so nice of you to come in and take away time from fall. Just who exactly do you think you are!?

Yup, winter has hit full force in north east Indiana and it doesn't look like it is backing off any time soon. Last weekend it was perfect fall weather, but as soon as I decide to go to a football game all bets are off and it snows and drops to 30 degrees. So much fun. I did get to cross off more things from my fall bucket list though (I am sticking to it being okay to continue until Thanksgiving, no matter what the weather decides). Check out the updated one here!

Anyway, back to the weekend. Friday was dinner with family and then home to watch movies with my puppy. I did get some house stuff done but not near as much as I hoped.

Saturday morning was that time that I went blonde. Almost completely blonde, I am really liking it. Then I did a lot of scrambling around to get ready to leave for the Notre Dame game that afternoon. by noon we were South Bend bound and bundled up so much that I couldn't feel my toes.

When is nap time?

Happy Saturday everyone!

blog pic

I want to introduce my new friend, Amber, from When is Naptime? Along with being a great blogger, she is a wife and mommy to two little boys (with a third little one on the way)! Her blog shares about the life of her family, health and beauty tips, crafts and fun kids things. Read more about her below or just head on over to her blog and see for yourself!

Why did you start blogging and how did you decide on "When is Nap Time?”

Hi everyone my name is Amber and I blog over at WhenIsNapTime.com.  I started blogging in April at the suggestion of a fellow blogger and instantly fell in love!  I am a stay-at-home-mom of two awesome boys ages 2 ½ and 4 ½ so when it was time to pick a name for my blog I looked at my husband and asked “when is nap time?” he smiled and said perfect and When Is Nap Time was born!

What has blogging taught you so far?

I still consider myself a fairly new blogger but I have definitely learned a lot since I started!  I am more outgoing and a lot less self-conscious of my writing.  I have learned that if you don’t push your limits and put yourself out there you will never know what you are capable of!

Any advice for new bloggers?

For any new bloggers my best advice would be to make as many connections as you can!  Follow other bloggers, join groups, and look for local blogging events in your area.  Meet as many people as you can and be genuine with them.

Are you a Christmas after Halloween person or it needs to wait until after Thanksgiving?

My birthday is on Thanksgiving so honestly it is my favorite holiday!  There’s no way I’m skipping that one!  I do however live in a neighborhood known for its Christmas decorations and the light tours start on Thanksgiving night.  Most of our neighbors have started getting their lights together but we always wait until Thanksgiving weekend to do ours.

How has having kids changed the way you tackle the holidays?

Having kids has taught me the importance of holidays and not rushing through them.  Everything goes so fast when you have kids that I have learned it’s important to savor every moment you can.

Any tips for new parents?

If this is your little one’s first holiday season, my best advice is to soak it all in!  Take tons of pictures and don’t try to do everything.  Just enjoy the time spent with your family and make some memories.

Any Christmas traditions in your house?

One of my favorite holiday traditions that we have started just since having kids is Christmas Eve. That night we each open a present.  It’s always new jammies!  Then the kids also get a movie and snacks in their box.  We all change and get cozy in our new jammies and snuggle up on the couch and watch our new movie.  It’s such a great way to just be together before the craziness of Christmas sets in the next day!

That's all for today. I am currently freezing my booty off at a football game so do something warm!

Friday's Favorites | Nov 14 & a Giveaway!

Boom, another week down and it is time for my favorite things. The weather has changed, and I have brought back some oldies, but also some new stuff! Also, keep reading through the end for a fun surprise.

Seaweed Night Cream

Mario Badescu

I have been using this night cream by Mario Badescu for a while now, but it has been my saving grace lately. As the weather has begun to change, my skin has started to get extremely dry so I have been using this every night and my skin looks normal again. No more scaly, dry patches. Now if only I could find the equivalent of this for my scalp!

Friendsgiving Party Planning

First things first I'm the realest, invitations! I am a firm believer that physical, paper invitations are always appropriate, however for this I wanted to keep it informal and fun so I did it all via Facebook. Nate was shaking his head at me the entire time because I was spending so much time on the design, but I can't help it. I like things to look pretty, even if it is a Facebook invite.

Next step is figuring out my plan, and lets be real I am a real over achiever when it comes to planning a party. I tend to overdo it, so on my list now is the following:
1. Drinks
2. Food
3. Decor
4. Entertainment

Lashes & Instagram Shopping

I am a sucker for eyelashes. Seriously, I love how much glamour/drama/pizzazz a set of falsies adds to a makeup look. Last week I stumbled upon this lovely lady's site for her eyelash tape - Fantabulash Tape. Yes, tape. Honestly I wanted to try them after just hearing about the product itself, but then I read Gina's story and I was hooked. Newest addition to my must try beauty item list!

Fantabulash Without Lashes
[Buy here]
This past week also brought my attention to many fun Instagram shopping accounts (this is my complete opinion, none of them are sponsoring/donating to me). The idea of shopping on Instagram is still weird/fun/new to me so here are some of the accounts I follow and my favorite pieces they have shown lately - all wishlist worthy!

5 Things Your Stylist Wishes You Would Do

Until I moved to Fort Wayne, I had never been in a position where I had to tell a "stranger" what I wanted to do with my hair. I grew up with a grandma who had her own beauty shop and we were always in there doing each other's hair as kids or having her do something to ours. My hair has been almost every color possible (black, purple, red, brown, blonde-ish). I have had perms, bangs, bobs and extensions. Once I moved four and a half hours away from my Nanna I had to bite the bullet and find a salon.

I found the perfect place at Pin Up Curls, when looking for a salon to use for my wedding day. Little did I know that my soon to be best friend worked there and that she would start dating Nate's best friend within a month of my first visit. It was fate I'll tell ya!

So, I have a very good relationship with my hair stylist as a result and I thought it would be fun to do a 5 Things post with things your hair stylist wishes you knew.

Meet my stylist!

5 Things...

1. We understand you don't want to show up with dirty hair, but please don't come with wet hair. Most of the time we are scheduled to the minute and showing up with wet hair to a color appointment just takes away from the time we could have been using to make you beautiful. We don't mind dirty hair!

2. Have your desired style/color/cut already narrowed down to a couple of ideas. The phrase "do whatever you want" doesn't actually make our job easier.

3. Someone somewhere once said its better to do an updo on dirty hair, BUT it is actually easier to dirty hair up with product than to make a greasy head look clean. Not only that, but then you get to be fresh and clean on the day of your wedding/prom.

4. Please take our advice when we suggest something that would make your hair healthier, such as adding a product, taking off more than a trim, a few less highlights next time, or turning your flat iron temperature down (it doesn't need to be at 450 degrees). We can't make your hair look beautiful if you don't take care of your hair once you leave our chair. Remember we are beauticians not magicians.

5. Last but not least please please re-book with your stylist at the end of your service, men too! We understand your schedule is crazy, but so is ours. When you need to squeeze in for a quick trim we can't always guarantee that A) we can find a spot for you or B) that we are going to be able to give you the quality hair cut you deserve because you absolutely couldn't wait until next week.

Short Version:
Don't wash your hair before your cut or color, unless you have time to dry it too.
Know what you basically want.
Clean hair is better for an updo.
Take the advice of your stylist, hair is their area of expertise.
Always try and re-book at the salon.

And that is all!

Boom! 5 things your stylist wishes you would do. Are you guilty of any of these or were you shocked by any of them?

If any of you lovely readers out there are from the Fort Wayne area by chance, make an appointment with Seanie at Pin Up Curls. She is amazing and my hair always looks amazing!

Is there anything that you would like to ask your stylist? Do you have any hair questions in general?

Have a great day, and remember to thank a vet!

Smells like Christmas

Just because I don't believe Christmas decorations should go up before Black Friday, doesn't mean I don't start to prepare throughout the rest of November. Part of my pre-Christmas prep includes stocking up on all things Christmas smelling, so when I was given the chance to try out Old Factory Candles c/o Brand Backer I just couldn't refuse.

First thing is first, let me tell you about the product:
Old Factory candles are hand-poured in the USA with natural soy wax, self-trimming cotton candle wicks, and premium fragrance oils. The Old Factory Candle Gift Sets each contain 3 different scented candles. Each candle burns clean and even for 20 hours. The subtle jar design makes it the perfect complement for any decor, and any room of the house - kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, family room, great room, and basement. Each gift set is themed around a group of related fragrances. So everyone is sure to find something perfect for every occasion, every room in the house, and all the special someones in your life. Old Factory Candle Gift Sets are sold exclusively on Amazon.

Ordering was easy, once I found the product listing (I made that easier for you though by providing the link to each scent collection below), and my candles arrived on time.

I personally judge products by their packaging initially, and these candles were packaged so well! The box itself was very informative while still looking clean and fun. Once I opened it up and looked at the candles inside I was happily surprised to see that their branding continued through to the inside of the box. It really added something to the thought that was behind these candles. The labels on the candles themselves also looked fun and meshed very well with the box they came in.

Since I knew I wanted to stock up on holiday scents, I ordered the Happy Holidays collection which included: Christmas Tree, Candy Cane, Gingerbread. They all smell similar to the name they are given and have a decent amount of scent to them just sitting unlit.

I decided to light the Gingerbread candle to give it a test run and let it sit for an hr. After being lit for an hour I noticed a subtle smell filling my living room. It wasn't overpowering, and was just enough. The candle also burnt really cleanly as well, which is always nice.

Overall I think these candles are great for smaller rooms or in addition to other forms of yummy smelling things. Personally I plan on using these in our bedrooms to bring the Christmas spirit throughout the other rooms of my house. Their size is perfect for a bedside table without having to take up too much space and the packaging of the candle itself is clean and will blend in with my decor around the house as well.

Personally, the price is a bit much for me, but when you think about the fact that they are made in the USA and hand-poured it makes it better. I love supporting local/American businesses so I could justify spending the $8.33-ish per candle - especially since they are supposed to last 20 hours. After burning mine for an hour you could barely tell that any was gone.

Want to try a set out for yourself? They come in 13 different scent collections so you can find the one perfect for you!

I received these items for testing purposes courtesy of Brand Backer and Old Factory Candles. All thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

What is your favorite scent for Christmas time?

Time well spent

Hello again! It is yet another Monday and honestly, life is good. This weekend was productive and relaxing at the same time, so I have set myself up for a decent week.

This was actually Thursday but It was just too good of a picture of  Remi to not share!
Side note about the above picture: If you are looking for a good hot chocolate for the upcoming cooler months, get the Swiss Miss® Simply Cocoa. I loved it! Super creamy and perfect just as it is, I didn't feel the need to add marshmallows or anything. And drinking it by the fire with my pup was icing on the cake!

Now, let's start with Friday shall we? Friday was my first official sweater, leggings, boots outfit of the year - basic much? Top that off with a hard cider and friends, you really can't beat it.

Saturday was probably my favorite day of the weekend. I relaxed around the house all morning then headed out for some shopping. There were some major deals at the mall and if it wouldn't have been so packed I probably would have stayed there longer but I got what I was looking for - new jeans! Not only did I buy new jeans, but I sold two pairs at Plato's (for way less than they were worth but hey better than them sitting on my shelf collecting dust). By dinner I was starving and we met friends at Buffalo Wild Wings for wings and beer. Then we headed to the nearest Redbox and rented two movies. Surprisingly, we didn't pick up candy (but we had some at home). First up was "Think Like a Man, Too" and I gotta say it was funny. Kevin Hart definitely kept me laughing and seeing Terrence Jenkins in a movie was fun too since I normally see him every day on E! Then we watched "The Fault in our Stars" and oh my goodness did I cry. I cry so easily, but I think even Nate was on the verge of tears during this one. The only time we laughed was when we looked down to check on Remi and saw him passed out on the pillow.
Seriously, he doesn't always act like a dog.
Sunday was church and leftovers, then on to cleaning the house. My kitchen looked amazing by the end of the day and all the laundry was done. Our room was completely put together again too. It was successful for sure. Not only did we get a lot done at home, but we both also went and worked out. My workout felt great and I really pushed myself - so proud. I also kept myself hydrated throughout the entire thing with my pretty little bottle of resource water. Have you tried it yet?

Swiss Miss® Simply Cocoa & resource® Natural Spring Water: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Workouts on Sundays always are a positive and a shock when I complete them!

That is all for me! What did you do this weekend? I have some exciting things planned for the upcoming weeks so stay tuned!
