My Everyday

Every morning for me seems to be a struggle, so I am not big on a huge makeup routine that takes 30 minutes to do. For me, my everyday makeup routine takes about 10 minutes or so and is quick and simple. I use a mix of drugstore and high-end products, and they seem to be just right for my face.

I have a kind of oily/combination t-zone so I do not use anything that says it illuminates. Also, I choose a primer that is supposed to help keep the oil under control. My primer and my powders have really made a difference in my overall final product and how long it lasts. Typically this lasts me the entire workday, only blotting once at lunch. If I need to go somewhere after work I just add a little fresh powder and blush and my face looks good as new since the base of my makeup is strong.

All products and tools used are listed at the end!

*Note: my skincare routine that I go through in the morning before applying my makeup can be found here.

So to begin, I use my L'Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector, and really pack it into my pores around my nose and through my t-zone. Then after letting it set in for a few minutes (usually I style my hair while I am letting this set in) I move on to my foundation. I have been a MAC girl for a while now, and I am in love with their foundations and concealers. I have tried 3 different foundation formulas and 3 concealers and so far these are my favorite - but really they are all good. I take my Pro Longwear Foundation and pump two pumps out on the back of my hand. Then I dot it all over my face with my finger and take a damp Beauty Blender to buff it out. This gives me a really good medium coverage - I like to still see my freckles popping through. Next, I take my Pro Longwear Concealer and using about half a pump, dot it under my eyes, on the corners of my mouth and nose, between my eyebrows and down my nose. I make sure the concealer makes a triangle almost under my eye (from each corner of my eye to the corner of my nose) to help cover up dark circles. Then I buff this out using the pointy end of my Beauty Blender. If there is anywhere that looks too light I go back over it with whatever foundation is left on the round side of my Beauty Blender.

Sticking with my MAC love, I use two powders to set my foundation/concealer in place. Using a fluffy, powder brush I use my Studio Fix powder over the majority of my face (everywhere except under my eyes). Then I go back with a contour brush and set the area under my eyes with my MAC Blot Powder Pressed (a lighter shade and a lighter weight powder overall). I don't contour my face on the daily, but I do add a little bronzer right under my cheekbones and lightly on the corners of my forehead. This Hoola bronzer by Benefit is the perfect shade and the brush is a great shape too so I just use that. To finish it off I use a nice and fluffy blush brush with just whatever blush I am feeling that day - typically this Sephora blush.

Finally, I move on to my eyes. I start by using my Sephora eyelid primer to give a good base for my eyeshadow. Then using a definer brush I take a matte brown (top row, second shade from the left) and put that in the corner of my eye and my crease. Then I take a buffing brush and blend it out with a more gold toned brown (bottom row the first shade from the left). To lighten it up a little, I then take a light tan shade (top row, first from left) and add that to the center of my lid an through to the inner corner. Finally I take that first brown shade and use a pencil brush to buff out my bottom lashes oh so lightly. I am still working on this. I really want to be able to get that smoky look under my eye, but it takes some practice.

For eyeliner, I use a felt tipped liner by Stila and only line my upper lashes, and I make sure to get the liner down between my lashes to help make them look fuller. Then I curl my lashes and add a coat of Benefit's They're Real to both my upper and lower lashes. When I do my lower lashes I make sure to stamp the mascara on my lashline to give the effect of liner without it being super harsh. Then I take my Brow Wiz pencil by Anastasia Beverly Hills and fill my lashes.

My last step is going back with my powder brush and my Blot Powder and lightly going over the area under my eyes and above my cheekbones. Some days I will set it with a setting spray as well, I really like Urban Decay's All Nighter Spray.

Wow! That was a lot. Now you know how I get my everyday look. Every now and then I change something up a little bit, but for the most part this is my everyday.

Do you have any tried and true makeup products that make up your everyday look? Would it have been more helpful to include a video or something? I am not a huge fan of myself on video so I am steering clear until it is requested. What else would you like to see on here? I am open to suggestions.

Have a wonderful day everyone and a happy birthday to my amazing husband!

Doing Nothing is Sometimes Best

Oh hi there. Sorry for the sudden disappearance, but sometimes you just need to give yourself a break and do absolutely nothing. That is exactly what I did. This weekend was exactly what I needed to rejuvenate myself and clear my head from all of the stress I let in lately. It is really therapeutic to just sit back, relax, and let everything go. No plans. No schedule. Just relax.

Granted this did nothing for my list of things to get done, and my house did not gain anything from the laziness, but my body did and I am ready to go and kick this week's butt.

So, what did I do this weekend? Well, it was filled with movies, wine and lots of unhealthy foods.

Friday night was spent watching movies with the hubs. We haven't had a lot of time to just relax together lately so this was my perfect Friday night. The movies for the night consisted of Divergent and Draft Day. I was really looking forward to Divergent, since I had read the book, and I was very happy about how it turned out. The acting was good and the story line followed the book for the most part. We also watched Draft Day, which ended up exceeding expectations. I mean how good could a movie be about the Browns right? Well it ended up being really good and we caught ourselves rooting for the guys in the draft by the end of it. So if you need a couple of movie suggestions, I would say either of these! Movie night was also supplemented by a DQ run for Blizzards just because we could.

Saturday started off early with my church class at 8 a.m., but I am one class closer to being a member of the Lutheran Church! It is taking a while, but I am getting there. Then later in the afternoon we headed to a friend's parents' house for a goodbye party. After about an hour there we went home because Nate had to work. An hour's nap later, and I was out the door to watch the soccer team play but there were a few too many mosquitoes for my liking so I didn't stay long. After the game it was back to the goodbye party to hang out with friends. That meant cookies, Skittles and beer all while playing an interesting game of Shoulders.

Sunday was spent with Nate's parents and grandma eating lunch and watching our Colts play pretty decently. Then it was time for more nothing and cuddles with my puppy at home before more TV show premieres that night - Once Upon a Time, Resurrection and Revenge!

That was it for me! I loved doing so little, even though it made me feel very lazy. I am refreshed and ready to go again though which is exactly what I needed.

I slacked and didn't get a Friday Favorites post done last week, but this was going to be my big item on that list - Milani's Caberet Blend lipstick. I love it! It is my new favorite and it is drugstore so you can't beat the price.

Here is what is going down in the Blair household this week. Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead of you! Do something that makes you feel good about yourself this week - I am really going to focus in on my workouts.

This week's dinner menu:

Monday | Spaghetti
Tuesday | Out for Nate's Birthday
Wednesday | Beef and Noodles
Friday | Chicken Enchiladas
Saturday | Leftovers
Sunday | Popcorn

This week's workout schedule:

Monday | Cardio/Abs
Tuesday | Biceps/Shoulders
Wednesday | Cardio/Back
Thursday | Chest/Triceps
Friday | Legs
Saturday | Cardio/Abs
Sunday | Rest

Life Lately and Currently

Well I just completed my first work trip and I will be honest, I am exhausted. Driving 5 hours a day isn't fun. What was fun though, was walking through the zoo to check out our sponsorship the morning after our meeting. I am a sucker for cute fluffy animals and well any animal really. It was the perfect weather for a trip to the zoo, and although they didn't have lions (my favorite animal) it was still a very enjoyable experience and it felt good to stretch my legs before jumping back in the car.
This poor guy is missing his tongue.

I had to take a picture of him, it was hump day.

Is this not the most adorable thing in the world!?

I feel like this month is flying by and I am getting absolutely nothing done. That is life though, so here are my goals revisited at this point in the month.

Goals for September
Post 5-times a week and schedule them ahead of time | So far I have been kicking butt at this!
Do at least one outfit post - and get the hubs to photograph it | Still working on this one
Get all of my social media connected to my blog and public worthy | Everything is connected, just need to make it all match
Create a media kit for my blog | I have a plan for it so  it is still in the works

Decorate my living room walls - they are so bare!  | This hasn't even been thought about unfortunately
DIY decor for above the bed in my room | This post is coming soon!

Run 20 miles over the course of the month | Ha! This is a huge fail again, and I don't plan on running 20 miles in the next 5 days. I will call 2 miles a win...
Lift at the gym at least twice a week |  I have been doing really well with this so far this month
Create a workout plan for the month and stick to it! | It isn't a physical plan, but I do have a basic plan in my head, I need to get it on paper though

Make a Fall bucket list | Made it, just not posting it yet
Meet up with an out of town friend | I have for sure done this already - 3 friends in one weekend!
Plan a fun celebration for Nate's birthday! | I have it planned, just need to let people know.

But to give you a little update on what I am doing with my life lately, here is a nice list of all my currently's:

Insurgent (Book 2 of Divergent Series) So far I really like it!

[Binge Watching]
Breaking Bad (Season 3, Episode 6) I can't stop, and I won't stop until it is over. I don't know why it took so long for me to start watching this one.
I love this song. All day, everyday.

About the premier of Scandal, Bones, Grey's and How to Get Away with Murder tonight. I am so excited, Can't even deal.

My coffee. It is pure bliss right now, I need it to function.
I could sleep just a couple extra hours in the morning. Seriously, just an extra 20 minutes would be amazing.
A scarf and a cardigan - my fall go-to outfit.
My husband and all he does for me to make my life what it is.

A big full skirt and pumps (with bows) for an outfit to wear in our anniversary photoshoot at the end of October.
To get myself into a legit schedule. I feel like it would help so much.
Overwhelmed by everything on my list of things to do, both at home and work.

That is all. Sorry it is such a long and random post. I have been traveling all week and didn't have much in me to get super creative. I am working on it!
It is almost Friday! Keep on smiling :)

All About the Masks

As previously stated in my skincare post and as obvious as it is on Instagram, I am a mask lover. Twice a week I take the time to pamper my skin and give it the extra love it needs. I came across the first mask by watching a friend's YouTube (check her out here) video on her monthly favorites. The second was pure luck when I happened to be shopping at LUSH one day.

The Deep Down Detox mask feels amazing on the skin and smells even better. My pores always feel free after using it. The second is also really yummy smelling and gives a really good exfoliation as you clean it off. They both do the trick and pairing them up throughout the week helps to keep my skin looking its best. One on Sunday and one on Wednesday seems to be the best way for me!

What are your favorite masks? Any good ones out there I should give a try?

Shop my favorites:
Deep Down Detox
Mask of Magnaminty

Don't Rain On My Parade

Each summer since I turned 21 - so the past three summers - and each time has been an experience to say the least. All three years have had something happen that wasn't in the original plan - time for a trip down memory lane on a beautiful Monday morning.

Year 1

Jana Kramer
I honestly don't remember who the headliner was this  year, but it was my first experience with Countryfest. It ended up getting delayed halfway through because of really bad storms and we had to run for cover because something about standing under a metal tent during a storm just didn't seem smart. Anyway we ended up leaving once the sirens went off and completely missed the rest of the show which resumed probably about 15 minutes later. Whoops!

Nate and I

Year 2

The second year I attended Countryfest was last year and it was my bachelorette party - half my bridal party was under 21 so this was a really good option. It was the first year that the concert took place at the ballpark and we got a suite to make it extra special - food and our own bartender.

And then on top of that we also got Meet & Greet passes to see Love and Theft. Somewhere there is a video of them singing "All I want for Christmas is You" to help cross things off my list that night but I can't find it.

I guess we seemed like fun when we met them because then they came back to our suite and hung out with us there!

So it is safe to say that year was a lot of fun, definitely more exciting than we thought going into it. Who doesn't want to hang out with people after your hear them in concert? Makes for some good stories the next day. The highlight of the night though was hearing about my mom yelling at some random lady for taking a picture of my behind. Rude!

Year 3

Our group
So now this past weekend we went to Countryfest number 3 and other than the weather, it was pretty good. The temperature was great for the first half and then it started raining/storming and again we had to run for cover for a little while. This meant cornhole and beer in a parking garage followed by beef stew and baby Guinness shots at a local Irish bar.

Thankful for warm weather to start the night.
Once we were pretty sure the concert was going again we headed back to hear Billy Currington sing a little until our ride picked us up.
Billy Currington
Doesn't everyone take a picture like this?
Here are a couple more pictures of Nate and I from this weekend. It always takes a few to really get a good picture of us. At least 3 tries - ALWAYS.

The rest of the weekend was pretty calm. Sunday was a lazy Sunday for sure and it was much needed. I did catch the first episode of Madam Secretary and The Good Wife Sunday night though. Madam Secretary has potential, haven't completely made up my mind yet. The Good Wife though, goodness, could they have started off with a bigger bang? I am really excited for the rest of the season.

Friday's Favorites | Sept. 19

I am planning a big makeup post about my daily routine since I have been asked about it multiple times now, but until then I figured I would do a post about my top 5 beauty products that I am loving as of late.

1. Primer

I am probably the only person in the world that has has problems with the Benefit Porefessional, and maybe I just need to try it for a longer period of time but it didn't quite work for me. Instead I have been sticking to my L'oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector. It helps control my oil, blurs my pores and actually I think they have gotten smaller in general. Basically this does everything it says it will on the packaging and who can argue with that. It is also a decent price and that helps a lot too.
L'Oreal Texture Perfectore

Just because I found a good one doesn't mean I will stop trying others though! Let me know if you know of a good one for oily/combination skin! On my list so far is one from Smashbox and giving the Porefessional another shot.

2. Sea Salt Shampoo

Yup, you read that right, sea salt shampoo - more specifically BIG from LUSH. I am currently rubbing salt into my hair every time I wash it (so about 3 times a week). I have been pairing it with a clarifying conditioner and a really lightweight conditioner and my hair honestly has never been better. It adds texture and exfoliates your scalp and just really makes for some really happy hair.

3. Eyebrows

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Skinny Brow Pencil
Again, I plan on doing a full post about my eyebrow routine, but I recently upgraded it by adding this pretty baby into the mix - Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz  Skinny Brow Pencil. I am so glad I caved and finally got this. I cashed in rewards points and was able to buy it and it was so worth it. I really struggle with my eyebrows looking the same because one side doesn't grow like the other and this looks so natural it is perfect!

4. Blotting

ULTA Oil Blotting Papers

I don't know what I would do without these magic little papers. My face, as previously mentioned, is oily and although I have figured out ways to make it better I still haven't solved the problem completely. So whenever I feel my face getting a little oily I grab a little paper and blot away at my trouble spots and problem solved. Instant face refresh without layering on more powder!

5. Conceal

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

Honestly there is no better concealer for me than this one from MAC. It doesn't settle/move/act weird and it most importantly covers what I want it to cover. Simply said, it is my favorite of all.

That is all for this weeks favorites. Be looking out for more beauty focused posts in the next few weeks! Let me know if there is anything you want me to write about, review, or answer.

Have a great weekend everyone! Do something fun and enjoy the last bit of summer weather if you are lucky enough to have it!

Can't stop, won't stop craving leather

Well, true to Indiana style, it has been fall weather for the past few days but it is supposed to be back in the 70's by tomorrow. This actually works out because we are going to a concert on Saturday that will be much more enjoyable in warm weather, but I really can't wait for fall to be here for real.

YES!!! I LOVE FALL ♥ ♥ ♥ I would choose Fall/Winter over Spring/Summer in a heart beat.

With the changing weather comes new clothes and my wishlist just keeps growing and growing. Unfortunately I am a normal human and just can't afford everything that I wish I had in my closet right now. So that is why there is a virtual closet that I can use to dream about clothes and set up alerts to know when something is really on sale and available in my size. Thank goodness for Rack It Up! If you haven't checked it out yet, do so. It makes tracking things that you want a lot easier. You can read more about Rack It Up in my first post about it here.
My Rack It Up Closet
So if you look at my closet right now (not my real one, my Rack one) you will see warm layers galore. I can't stop looking at leather and faux fur right now. It is my top wish at the moment.

What do you want in your closet this fall? Have you started your fall bucket list?
