Derby Days

Although I am still in Indiana, the Derby is still being celebrated on Saturday. Last year our group of friends had the First Annual Trentucky Derby in honor of one of our friends moving into his new house. It was later in the summer than the Derby, but we still had an amazing time and dressed the part. My husband ended up being on the winning team and I ended up winning major points with all of the guys - I "Iced" them all. Best "Icing" ever too, the bottles were hid at the bottom of a Taco Bell Taco Ten Pack box and covered with the tacos. No one saw it coming.

Now, this year Nate should make sure to keep his expectations in check and realize that I am not as good as his last partner at party games. I am also going in well aware that I am going to get "Iced" this year. Full post on the shenanigans that go on this Saturday on Sunday, or follow me on Instagram (see below or in sidebar).

In the true spirit of the Derby I also pulled together some of my favorite items that if I was actually going then I would buy. However, I am not, so I will be seeing what I can pull together for Saturday that fits the bill but doesn't break the bank. Check out some of my favorite items here, there are both budget friendly and more high end options.

Sisters of the Wine and Blue

My pledge class on our last Bid Day circa 2012

Today marks 147 years that my amazing sorority has been in existence. April 28, 1867 was the day that set the tone for me and my fellow sisters of the wine and blue. A group of young women at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois decided they wanted to form an organization like that of men's fraternities. Because of these women, I had the opportunity to experience some amazing things during college.

I am a proud member of the Indiana Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi. Not only did I gain amazing friends that will be with me for my life, but I had amazing opportunities throughout my college years. Even now as an alumnae of Pi Phi I have the opportunity to be involved and help the next group of young angels make their mark on the world through acts of leadership and service. Sisterhood, service, leadership and integrity are the base of my amazing sorority and I could not be more proud of the group that I will forever belong to.

We are sisters of the wine and blue, and friends forever true. Happy 147 years Pi Phi. Here is to another 147.

Friday's Favorite

It's Friday which means it is time for my absolute favorite item lately...

I cannot live without this necklace. It is the classic monogram necklace from Love Always I seriously cried when my husband gave it to me for my birthday. There is nothing more classic and perfect to me than a monogram. I had been wanting this forever and now it is my most worn item.

Here are a few other items from Love Always that I have been wanting lately.

Sideways Initial Necklace

Classic Initial Bangle

Pave Bar Chain Bracelet

Blush Pink Statement Earrings

The Beginning of it All

Who am I? Why should you read my blog? Let me tell you.

I am a twenty something, college graduate, newly-wed living in the good ole Midwest. My life isn't some extravagant fairy tale where I go off to grand parties and shop in the best places in the entire world. I am an average human being making my way in this world, and if by some chance I can make a difference and leave a mark in someone's life then I have succeeded.

Here is what I am and what I want to share with you. I love make-up, shoes, clothes and all things shopping, but I have a budget. I have many, many crazily organized Pinterest boards that really need to be used for more than just staring at (and I am going to share my endeavors with you). I am a newly-wed living on a cul-de-sac with my amazing husband, and I want to show you how we keep our love alive. I am not a mother, but I want to be eventually.

I have dreams. I have goals. And I am going to share my life with you. I am an open book. Ask me questions and I will do my best to answer.

This is my blog, this is my life and I am so, so excited.
